What is West Coast Swing?
West Coast Swing (WCS) is one of the most popular partner dances in the country. It is a designed to work in narrow spaces, that derived from the Lindy Hop. WCS is danced to a wide array of music, this style is great for fans of R&B, blues and club music who want to do more than “bump & grind” on the dance floor. While the dance is challenging, we know how to make it accessible and easy to learn!
Dancing is a great way to get out, have fun, get some exercise and leave your problems behind. West Coast swing is one of the most versatile partner dances in existence because it can be danced to a wide variety of music, this means you can dance anywhere there is music including bars and lounges.
Most students who study once a week are encouraged to remain in that skill level for a minimum of one year.
We have a couple of different levels for you to try out.
This Intro Class is for people who have never danced WCS before or who do not know their basic patterns. In this class we learn our basic patterns and what we need to have a good time on the floor.
This is for dancers who are Novice Plus and already know their basic patterns (Left Side Pass, Under Arm Turn, Sugar Push, etc.). Novice Plus teaches more patterns, moves, and expands vocabulary.
